I need to keep my video and audio files up to date so that my agent and the casting directors know what I've been working on and how my skills have improved, so I spent a little time in the studio last week with my coach Pete to record a vocal demo. Mom shot some video to go with the audio, but luckily we got what we needed in three takes - video coming soon! The song is a Motown classic; next week I'm going to record a ballad, too.
Motown is coming up next weekend, and I'm very excited! We couldn't make it into this city this morning due to all the snow we got here, but I did have a fun Skype session with my voice coach. With the extra morning time I've having some fun with my brother in the snow, but I also took some time to work on The Beatles' Blackbird - my guitar coach has been teaching me this one, bit by bit, between my Motown songs and voice songs, and I'm happy with the way it's coming along. It's not ready for a recording yet, but my finger work is getting good! I've posted a little clip on YouTube of me practicing this morning - link on the "Musician" page.
I came back from break and hit the ground running! I had very important audition for a new Broadway musical - a project I would absolutely love - along with the usual auditions, rehearsals and practices. Lots of prep work required! This weekend is All-County Chorus for NYSSMA, and I am so excited for the Motown show, which is finally coming up at the end of the month! Not my best singing here, but its a quick video of what some of my prep work looks like, practicing my Motown moves with my dance coach Bobby Gouse at Dance Molinari - repeat for singing and for guitar - and then of course practice every day at home!
